How we research

Every buying guide starts from the same question: what actually matters for this job? For step treads and nosings that's slip resistance, weathering and how they wear underfoot. For sealers it's finish, breathability and how long the protection lasts through a British winter. We weigh products against those criteria, read the long-term owner reviews, and only shortlist things we'd be happy to use on our own steps.
